Bereavement
Grief is a natural and emotional response to the loss of a loved one. It can manifest in various ways, including stress, low mood, and anxiety. These feelings are normal and typically lessen over time.
If you have experienced a bereavement and feel unable to work, you should request compassionate leave from your employer. Please note that compassionate leave is different from sick leave and should be treated accordingly. As such, it is inappropriate to be asked to provide a sick note from your GP. Bereavement is a natural process, not an illness, and these requests can divert valuable GP appointments away from patients in need, particularly during a time of unprecedented strain on the NHS.

If you feel you need additional support during this time, consider reaching out to your employer or exploring bereavement counselling services. This follwing website has lots of useful information - click here
In the unlikely event that your employer insists on treating bereavement as an illness and requests a sick note, please ask them to contact the practice directly with this request.
